FIMP - Fingerprint Identification Matching Platform

The use of biometrics is proving itself to be an effective tool in Identity Management, battling identity fraud and identity authentication. Biometric can be used in many different application spaces such as

Identity management for secure application and computer log-in
Biometric enrollment and registration
Biometric access control
Biometric identification and identity searches
Biometric watchlist

To develop a biometric application for such purposes can be a daunting task, with application developers having to deal with multi vendors, performance, compatibility issues and different biometric standards. To make it easier for application developers and organisations to acquire biometric credentialing capabilities, Singapore Homefront Security Consortium has developed a Fingerprint Identification Matching Platform (FIMP) Jump Start Kit (JSK) to help application developers and customers rapidly develop biometric enabled applications by providing a set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for data capture, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), image processing and fingerprint matching. The APIs are bundled together with document scanner and USB fingerprint scanner to capture and process the data.

The core biometric matching engine is developed by X-Bio Pte Ltd. It is critically acclaimed to be one of the most cost effective Automated Fingerprint Identification Matching System around.

An example of an application developed using the FIMP JSK was for Singapore’s Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) for identity management and access control.

The FIMP JSK allowed for the rapid development and deployment of a mobile biometric verification system for conducting spot checks and verifying the identity of workers and contractors in security sensitive sites. An entirely new biometric application was developed, tested and implemented in weeks instead of months.

The Jump Start Kit can be outfitted to any PC terminal that requires biometric credentialing, built into a Kiosk or deployed with a laptop for mobility.
All hardware components are Kiosk ready, compact, require no additional power source and generates little heat.
Comprehensive SDK libraries and functions for performing various aspect of biometric verification, data capture and image processing
Interfaces with applications developed using common programming languages such as
C++, C#, Java and etc
Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

Travel documents like ICAO compliant passport and travel cards

Name Cards

Barcode
