IPVSS - Integrated People and Visitor Screening System

Many security solutions providing visitor control and management exists in the market today, but few are designed to provide for multi faceted security screening needed to address today’s myriad security threats.

The Integrated People and Visitor Screening System (IPVSS) designed and built by the Singapore Homefront Security Consortium (SHSC) is an integrated screening solution that comprises People Screening Technology, Vehicle Screening Surveillance, Biometric Access Control and Security Pass Issuance.

IPVSS handles all aspects of visitor monitoring and control ranging from visitor registration, vehicle screening, tagging of visitor information to the driven vehicle, access control and security pass issuance. The solution versatility is further enhanced by the modular nature of the system design which allows the system to be scaled to meet future needs and incorporate technology advancements. The resulting system is a highly capable and cost effective screening solution that is able to handle today’s diverse security threats.

IPVS can be deployed at critical infrastructure sites needing complete people and vehicle screening and control.

Visitor Management and Registration Module

Visitor Management and
Registration Module
IPVSS registers and captures the particulars of an individual through the use of the Sentinel Document Scanner. The scanner scans and extracts the visitor information from documents such as

business card, identity card or passport and enters the information into the system automatically without any need for data entry by the operator.

The module reduces the registration process and typographical data entry error. Images of the visitor travel documents are stored in the system for post incident analysis and for future reference.

Vehicle Screening and Tagging of Visitor information

Vehicle Screening and
Tagging of Visitor information
One key feature of the IPVSS system is its ability to scan the undercarriage of the vehicle to reveal tampering and hidden objects such as explosives and contraband substances.

Both the overview image of the car and its licence plate image are automatically captured by the system where the licence plate undergoes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and is entered into the system. The module complements the Visitor Management and Registration Module by tagging vehicular information with the visitor’s particulars at registration.

Likewise, the vehicle images can be stored for post incident analysis, for use in creating a watchlist application or for determining authorised vehicle access.

Secure Visitor’s Pass Issuance Module

Secure Visitor’s
Pass Issuance Module
The module is responsible for generating personalised security passes. Each pass features optical security features like UV security print, kinegram or 2 D or 3 D barcode encoded with biometric information to prevent forgery and duplication.

Depending on the security needs of the organisation, personalised contactless smart card with advance cryptometric properties can also be issued and used in conjunction with more complex operations such as visitor tracking and access control.

Biometric Access Control Module

Biometric Access
Control Module
After registration, visitors’ access within the premises can be controlled using biometrics, smart cards and access control devices such as automated gate.

Once the visitor information is stored centrally, it is updated throughout the access points within the building. The rule based system determines and controls the movement of visitors to pre-approved designated zones.

The system allows the tracking of visitor throughout the building when the visitor uses the security passes to gain access.
